Indians Roll into 2nd Round of State Playoffs

The Stephens County Indians started the AAA state playoffs in impressive fashion defeating Carver of Atlanta 31-13 Friday night at the Reservation.

A Tripp Underwood to Jasec Smith pass set up the Indians first score-a Javin Gordon 1-yard touchdown run to take an early lead. The Indians second score came on a Gordon 52-yard touchdown run, and the defense delivered the third score when Brock Tankersley blocked a Panther punt and recovered in the end zone for a touchdown and a 21-0 halftime lead.

Carver cut the lead to 21-7 scoring on the first possession of the 2nd half, but the Indians extended the lead to 24-7 on a Luke Waters 25-yard field goal. Gordon would get his 3rd touchdown of the night on a 13-yard touchdown run late in the 4th quarter to put the game out of reach. Gordon carried the ball 33 times for 202 yards (unofficial),

Stephens County (10-1) will return home next Friday for a 2nd round matchup with Wesleyan.
