Indians Pick Up Win at Rabun

Konnor Loudermilk induced a ground ball to Nate Ivester with two outs and a runner at 3rd base, and the Stephens County Indians held on for a 5-4 victory at Rabun County on Thursday night.

The Indians took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning aided by two Wildcat errors and a Loudermilk RBI double.

Rabun County would come back to tie the game in the 3rd inning with RBI’s by Jarrett Giles and Elvis Hunt.

Stephens County got the two runs back in the top of the 4th inning with hits by Loudermilk and Landon Carter, Ethan Smith reached on an error and scored, and Ivester had an RBI on a fielder’s choice ground ball. They would add a large insurance run in the 5th inning on a Loudermilk RBI, scoring William Roush.

Rabun County scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th with RBI’s by Reid Giles and Parker Smith.

Findley Ward picked up the win on the mound for the Indians pitching 5 strong innings and allowing two runs on just two hits and striking out seven. Loudermilk pitched the last two innings to get the save, allowing only one earned run and one hit, while striking out four.

Smith pitched well in the loss for Rabun County, going 6 and 1/3 innings and giving up five runs, but only two earned on six hits, and striking out two.

Stephens County improves to 5-5 on the season. Rabun County falls to 1-5.

Stephens County will host Habersham Central on Friday, weather permitting, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 P.M. and airtime at 5:20 P.M. on WNEG.
