Indians Pick Up Extra Inning Win at Banks County

The Stephens County Indians baseball team scored two runs in the extra inning and stranded two Banks County base runners in the bottom of the 8th to take a 3-1 non-region win over Banks County Saturday night in Homer.

With the score tied at 1-1 and one out in the top of the 8th, Colby Fowler reached on an error, Nick Randall doubled, and with runners on 2nd and third, Ben Stowe singled in the go ahead run scoring Fowler, followed by William Roush reaching on an error and scoring Randall.

Konnor Loudermilk got the final six outs and allowed no hits, while striking out two, to pick up the win for the Indians. Starting pitcher Grant Babbitt was outstanding, pitching six strong innings and allowing just one unearned run on one hit while striking out three.

Hunter Heath picked up the tough loss for Banks County following Judd Spear, who like Babbitt, pitched six strong innings while allowing just one run and striking out ten.

Roush had two RBI’s and two hits to lead the Indians at the plate.

Stephens County won all three games against Bank County this season and improves to 8-3 on the year. Banks County falls to 4-6.

The Indians next game will be the start of Region-8 AAA play when they travel to face Monroe Area on Tuesday. Game time is set for 5:55 P.M. with airtime set for 5:45 P.M. on WNEG.
