Indians Offense Struggles in Home Loss to Oconee

The Stephens County Indians baseball team has had trouble scoring runs since the region schedule began last week. Their offensive struggles continued Tuesday night as the Indians dropped a 9-1 decision to the Oconee County Warriors.

Oconee County scored single runs in the first, second and third innings, and batted around in the fifth inning scoring five runs to put the contest away.

Garrett Burgess’ RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning was the only scoring the Indians could muster.

Cruz Mullinix went just four innings and gave up seven runs in the loss. Junior right hander Banks Arnold went five innings for the Warriors, giving up just one run, striking out five and walking three for the victory.

The region series continues Friday night in Watkinsville with a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to start at 5:00 P.M. with airtime on WNEG Radio set for 4:45 P.M.
