Indians Named to All-Region Baseball Team

The 2019 All-Region Baseball team has been announced for Region 8-AAAA and the Stephens County Indians have four players on the 1st team.

Stephens County senior pitchers Davis Swenson, Dawson Sorrells, and Gabe White were three of the six pitchers named to 1st team and they were joined by Junior shortstop Eli Wenger.

The Indians also placed two players on the 2nd team: Catcher Cayden Maxwell and corner infielder Carson Brock both seniors.

Junior outfielder Ridge Adams was named as honorable mention.

St. Pius shortstop Chandler Simpson was named Region Player of the Year, and Will Pearson of North Oconee and Luke Dickens of Oconee County were named the Co-Pitchers of the year.

The rest of the 1st team in Region-8 included seven players from region champion North Oconee: Pearson, infielders Rylan Laird, Garrett Paxson, and Bubba Chandler, outfielders Dom Hughes and Kyle Sherrer, and Woody Barks was named as Utility player.

St. Pius placed four on the 1st team: Simpson, pitcher Agyei Quinichett, catcher Matthew Turner, and outfielder Michael Spear. Oconee County also had four players on the 1st team: Dickens, catcher Brooks Blizzard, and infielders Keanu Legaspi and Jackson Manders. Madison County had two players named: infielder Adam Echols and outfielder Austin Baddeley.
