Indians kick off football season tonight

The Stephens County Indians will kick off their football season tonight in Mt. Airy as they travel to play the Habersham Central Raiders in a non-region game.

Last year, the Indians defeated the Raiders at The Reservation in a close game, 14 to 3.

The Indians are coming off a season where they went 9 and 3, won the region title, and made it to the 2nd round of the state playoffs, losing to the eventual state champs, Sandy Creek.

Habersham Central was 3 and 7 last year.

Last night on the Crunch Time radio program, Stephens County defensive line coach, Brad Whitfield, said he expects another tough battle like last year’s game.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 6:30 p.m. with the Indian Road Show.

Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and live pre-game coverage from the stadium starts at 7:15 p.m.

You can also listen online at wnegradio.com and on the free WNEG Radio app.
