Indians Host State Playoffs Today

The Stephens County Indians will host the 1st round of the AAAA baseball State Playoffs later today in a doubleheader with the LaGrange Grangers the #3 team from Region-5.

The Grangers finished 7-5 in a tough region and was 12-18-1 overall. The Indians finished #2 in Region-8 and finished the season on a 6 game winning streak. The Indians were also 7-5 in the region and finished with an overall record of 18-11-1. The series is a best 2 out of 3 and game 3 would be played Thursday afternoon, if necessary. This will be the first playoff series hosted by the Indians since 2013.

Airtime for today’s doubleheader is scheduled for 3:45 P.M. with first pitch scheduled for 4 P.M. on WNEG. Game two will follow about 25 minutes after game one completes.

Other state playoff match-ups involving Region-8 teams include region champion North Oconee hosting Cedartown, St. Pius at Troup County, and Oconee County at Cartersville.

Other area teams in the state playoffs include: in AA Banks County at Callaway, in AAA Hart County at Lovett, and in AAAAAA Habersham Central at South Spalding.
