Indians Get Big Comeback Win Over Blue Devils

The Stephens County boys’ basketball team won an overtime thriller at the Currahee Arena Tuesday night coming from nine points down to defeat the Elbert County Blue Devils 67- 62.

The Indians had a nine-point lead at half time, but Elbert County took a commanding lead in the 4th quarter, but the Indians came storming back in the second half to tie the game at 56 at the end of regulation.

Javin Gordon and Jet Black led Stephens County with 16 points each while Nuri Winters had 13 and Jasec Smith had 11.

The Blue Devils were led by Boaz Goodman with 15 points.

The win for the Indians ran their record to 3-1 while Elbert County boys are now 1-5.

In the girls’ game the Lady Blue Devils led all the way defeating the Stephens County girls 57-45.

Fayeth Ivester led the Lady Indians in scoring with 12 points. Tytiuanna Tukes chipped in with 10 points and Carson Stowe added nine points.

Elbert County’s girls were led by Kaylen Rucker, who poured in 17 points. Audrey Lunsford and Arzarias Belcher each had 10 points for the Lady Devils

It was the first win of the year for the Elbert County girls, now 1-4. Stephens County’s girls are also 1-4.

The Indians and Lady Indians travel to Tallulah Falls Friday for a 7 P.M. game. Airtime will be 6:45 P.M. on WNEG.

Saturday’s home game with Habersham Central has been changed to a 12:30 P.M. game at the Currahee Arena with airtime on WNEG set for 12:15 P.M.
