Indians Fall to Wildcats

A quick start propels the Rabun County Wildcats to a non-region football win over the Stephens County Indians.

Rabun County scored in the opening minutes on a 55-yard touchdown pass from Bailey Fisher to Cole Keener and never looked back, defeating the Indians, 28-6, in Toccoa on Friday night.

“The second half is the way we have to play,” said Indians’ Head Coach Frank Barden. “The kids played with emotion. That is what we have to learn and do as a team. The first half, I don’t think we played with a lot of emotion. The second half, we played with some emotion.”

After Rabun County took an early 7-0 lead, the game remained that score until just before halftime when Fisher ran it in from three yards out to make it 14-0 in favor of the Wildcats.

After halftime, Rabun County took advantage of an Indian fumble and Fisher threw his second touchdown pass of the night to give the Wildcats a 21-0 lead.

The Indians cut it to 21-6 on the opening play of the fourth quarter when Jackson Bell scored on a two-yard touchdown run on fourth down and goal.

However, Rabun County scored an insurance touchdown on a 10-yard run from Fisher late in the fourth quarter.

For the game, Fisher had 200 yards passing and 90 yards rushing for Rabun County, throwing two touchdown passes and running for two more scores.

The Indians were led on the ground by Tracey Lowery, who eclipsed the 100-yard rushing mark for the night.

This loss drops Stephens County to 1-1 on the season, while Rabun County moves to 2-0.
