Indians Fall to Hebron-Will Play for 3rd on Friday

Led by Mataj Glover’s 38 points, the Hebron Christian Lions overwhelmed the Stephens County Indians Wednesday night, 90-67, at the Currahee Arena.

The game was to determine who would play in the championship game of the Region 8-AAA Tournament Friday night.

Hebron Christian scored 20 points or more in the second, third and fourth quarters and led by 20 at the half.

Zy Durham and Colsen Ivey shared the scoring lead for the Indians with 12 points each while Nuri Winters and Javin Gordon each had 11 points.

The loss for Stephens County runs their overall record to 10-15 but puts them in the consolation round Friday night at the Currahee Arena against the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes.

The game Friday afternoon will determine the third and fourth seeds in the upcoming state AAA tournament which begins next week.

Monroe Area lost earlier in the evening to Hart County 60-53.

Game time Friday afternoon for the Indians game will be approximately 5 P.M. with airtime on WNEG at 4:45PM.

In other Region Playoff Games at the Currahee Arena Wednesday, the Hart County girls lost to Oconee County 54-48, and the Franklin County girls fell to Hebron Christian 98-18.

In addition to the Indians game at 5 on Friday, the Hart County boys will play Hebron Christians for the region championship at 8 P.M..

On the girl’s side, Oconee County will take on Hebron Christian at 6:30 P.M. for the region title, and Franklin County will face Hart County at 3:30 P.M. in the consolation game.
