Indians Fall on Road at Franklin

The Stephens County Indians baseball team fell 13-3 in six innings Saturday night at Franklin County in Carnesville.

The Lions took an early 2-0 lead after one inning, but the Indians came back with 3 runs in the top of the 2nd inning when Garrett Burgess and Jacob Pruitt opened the inning with back-to-back singles. Burgess scored on an Aydon Garmon double, and then Pruitt and Garmon scored on William Roush’s 2-RBI single.

The lead was short-lived for the Indians when Franklin County came back with 5 runs in the bottom of the inning including a 3-run home run by A.J. Peeples.

Franklin County added on 4 runs in the 3rd inning, and one run in each of the bottom of the 4th and 6th innings.

Miles Dodd picked up the win for the Lions going five innings and allowing only 4 hits while striking out 8.

Grant Babbitt suffered his first loss of the season to fall to 3-1.

Franklin County improves to 2-0 in Region-8 AAA play and 7-5 overall. Stephens County falls to 0-2 in the region and 7-7 overall.

The two teams will meet again on Monday night in Carnesville for the final game of the series. Airtime on WNEG is scheduled for 5:20 P.M. with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 P.M.
