Indians Fall in Regular Season Finale at Hebron Christian Academy

The regular season ended with losses by the Stephens County Indians and Lady Indians falling to Hebron Christian Academy on Friday night in Dacula.

In the boys’ game, The Lions led by a point at halftime, but increased the lead to as many as 18 in the 2nd half and took the senior night victory 74-65.

Hebron Christian was led by Jelani Smith-Mason with 21 points.

Cam Lacy led the Indians with 20 points and Corey Richie added 11.

Despite the loss, the Indians will be the 3rd seed in the Region-8 tournament beginning Monday at Oconee County High School. The Indians finished the regular season at 5-5 and in a three-way tie with Oconee County and Hebron Christian. All three teams split with the others during the season, but Stephens County gets the nod for #3 due to the win over top seed Monroe Area last Tuesday night.

Stephens County, now 12-11 overall, will face Franklin County on Monday night with a chance to advance to the region semi-final, and a berth in the AAA state playoffs. The Lions went winless in region play this season.

The top ranked Lady Lions of Hebron Christian jumped out to a 30-4 lead after the first quarter and rolled to a 96-20 win over the Lady Indians.

Audrey Beckham led the Lady Lions with 29 points and Amiya Porter added 22.

MyAngel Carter led the Lady Indians with 4 points.

Hebron Christian finishes the regular season at 25-0 and 10-0 in region play. The Lady Indians fall to 1-9 in the region and 3-21 overall.

The Lady Indians will face Oconee County on Monday night.

The schedule on Monday’s opening round of the region-8 tournament at Oconee County is as follows:

4 P.M. Girls: Monroe Area vs. Franklin County

5:30 P.M. Boys: Oconee County vs. Hebron Christian

7 P.M. Girls: Stephens County vs. Oconee County

8:30 P.M. Boys: Stephens County vs. Franklin County

The Hebron Christian and Hart County girls finished 1st and 2nd in the region and have advanced to the semi-finals on Wednesday. Monroe Area and Hart County have advanced on the boys’ side.
