Indians Fall at Gainesville

The Gainesville Red Elephants scored two runs in each of the 5th and 6th innings to take a 4-2 victory over Stephens County on Friday night in Gainesville.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd inning when Garrett Burgess doubled, moved to third on a fielders choice, and scored on a passed ball.

The Indians made it 2-0 in the 4th when Jacob Pruitt reached on a 2-out walk and scored on a Garrett Pless RBI triple.

Gainesville scored two in the 5th on a two run RBI triple by Jahleel Rivas-Dicks, and took the lead in the 6th on Baxter Wright’s two out RBI single.

Cruz Mullinix pitched well for the Indians going 4 and a 1/3 innings and allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out three. Patrick Murray came on in the 5th to get the Indians out of the inning after Gainesville tied the game, but ended up taking the tough loss.

Stephens County falls to 5-5 on the season. Gainesville improves to 3-5.

The Indians next game is scheduled for Friday, March 12th when they travel to Cherokee Bluff.
