Indians Eliminated from Playoffs with Split with Bulldogs

The Stephens County Indians and the Hart County Bulldogs split their region 8-
AAA doubleheader Friday evening.

In the first game, the Indians Tyler Zigan hit a game winning single in the bottom
of the ninth inning to give Stephens County an 8-7 win.

The game was tied at 7-7 at the end of seven innings.

Craig Thurmond, William Roush and Nate Ivester each had two RBIs in the contest. Roush also had a home run.

Konnor Loudermilk went the first five innings on the mound, followed by
Noah Strickland, who pitched the final four innings and got the win. Ethan Martin
took the loss in relief for the Bulldogs. Avery Strickland led Hart County with four
RBIs.

In game two, it was all Hart County as the Bulldogs beat Stephens County 10-
2. Right-handed sidearm pitcher Zach Dombrowski allowed just six hits to get the
win. Hayden Scott took the loss.

Hart County pounded out 15 hits in the game.

With the loss, Stephens County falls to 3-9 in the region and 9-14 overall and is now eliminated from the state playoffs. Hart County improves to 3-9 in the region and can only make the playoffs with a sweep of Monroe Area in their final region series.

The next Stephens County game will be Wednesday in a home non-region tilt with Commerce. The Indians seniors will be honored on senior night. Game time is set for 5:30 P.M. with airtime at 5:20 P.M. on WNEG.
