Indians Earn Split with West Hall

The Stephens County Lady Indians broke a 6-game losing streak with a huge win over the West Hall girls Monday night 75- 13.

Great defense plus poor play from West Hall kept the Lady Spartans scoreless
in the second and third quarters.

Stephens County jumped out to a 7 to 0 lead in the opening stanza and
never trailed.

Lanesia Verdell led the Lady Indians with 11 points while Ivey Jackson and Aleria Faulkner tallied 10 points each. The Lady Indians led 37-10 at the half.

The win gives Stephens County girls a 2- 6 record overall with both wins over the Lady Spartans.

West Hall is 0-7.

The Stephens County boys will carry an even 4-4 record into the Christmas Holidays after dropping a 46-41 decision to the West Hall boys Monday night.

A big 19-point third quarter led the way for the Spartans led by Xavier Felix, who scored 13 points to lead his team. Glenn Matiba and Troy Smith each had 11 points for West Hall.
The Spartans are now 4-6 on the season.

Both Stephens County boys’ and girls’ basketball teams will take off some time for the Christmas holidays. They will be back to host their annual Christmas Basketball Tournament on December 28th and 29th. The visiting teams will be Habersham Central, Athens Academy, Athens Christian and Powdersville, South Carolina.

The Stephens County girls will play both days at 4 P.M. followed by the
Indian boys. WNEG will broadcast those games with airtime both days at 3:45. P.M.
