Indians Earn First Region Win

The Stephens County Indians baseball team scored 9 runs in the final two innings and rolled to a 13-2 win at East Jackson on Tuesday night.

Cruz Mullinix was outstanding on the mound pitching six innings and allowing only 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out seven and only walking one. Mullinix improved his record to 2-2 on the season. Aydon Garmon pitched a scoreless 7th inning and struck out three.

 

Mullinix also reached base in 4 of 5 at bats and had 2 RBI’s. The Indians also got two RBI’s each from Jacob Pruitt and Craig Thurmond. Garrett Burgess, Ben Stowe, Patrick Murray, Colby Fowler, and Dylan White added RBI’s.

Fowler led the Indians with 3 hits and scored three runs while reaching base in all five at bats. Burgess and Stowe added two hits each, and Carson Worley, Garmon, Thurmond, and White each had a hit.

The Indians picked up the first Region-8 win of the season, stopped a six- game losing streak, and improved to 1-6 in the Region and 8-11 overall. East Jackson falls to 0-7 in the Region and 3-13 overall.

The two teams will meet on Friday at Stephens County High School in a doubleheader beginning at 5 P.M. with airtime set for 4:45 P.M. on WNEG
