Indians Down Razorbacks

The Stephens County Indians baseball team picked up a third straight win defeating Walhalla of South Carolina 6-1 Wednesday night at the Reservation.

Stephens County’s Dawson Sorrells picked up his 2nd victory on the mound allowing just a run on 4 hits and striking out 8. Jordan Page pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning for the Indians.

The Indians took a 1-0 lead after the first inning when Cayden Maxwell doubled and scored on a passed ball. After a Cody Barnes home run tied the score at 1, the Indians grabbed the lead for good in the 4th when Carson Brock doubled and scored on a Sorrells RBI single.

The Indians added three more runs in the 5th inning when Page reached on an error, Eli Wenger singled, and Aaron Chappalear’s infield single scored Page. Wenger would later score on a wild pitch and Chappalear scored on a balk call.

The Indians final insurance run came when Davis Swenson scored on Cole Snyder’s bases loaded walk.

Barnes took the loss on the mound for Walhalla as the Razorbacks fall to 3-2 on the season.

Stephens County improves to 6-2-1 and will return to action on Friday when they travel to Carnesville to face Franklin County. Airtime is scheduled for 5:20 P.M. with first pitch at 5:30 on WNEG.
