Indians-Cats Split

The Stephens County Indians Boys Basketball team led 29-13 after one quarter, lost the lead in the third quarter, but dominated the last 12 minutes of the game and defeated Rabun County 85-64 in Tiger on Tuesday night.

Montavis Thornton led three Indians in double figures scoring 25 points, Ty Nails scored eleven in each half for 22 points, and Deundra Singleton added 14 points for Stephens County.

Bailey Fisher had 17 points to lead Rabun County.

The Indians improve to 11-4 on the season, Rabun County falls to 1-12.

In the girls contest, Rabun County’s Georgia Stockton scored 19 of her game high 26 points in the third quarter and the Lady Cats downed the Stephens County Lady Indians 75-55.

Tykia Thompson was the lone Lady Indian in double figures with 10 points.

The Lady Indians fall to 7-7 on the season, Rabun County improves to 10-2.

Both Stephens County teams will return to the hardwood at the Currahee Arena this weekend. Stephens County will host Oconee County in a region match-up on Friday, and rival Franklin County on Saturday. Airtime on WNEG will be 6:45 P.M. on Friday, and 5:45 P.M. on Saturday.
