Indians Boys Pick Up Region Win Over Rival

Corey Richie’s 24 points helped the Stephens County boys take an 82-66 victory over the Franklin County boys on Friday night at Currahee Arena.

Nuri Winters had 14points and Javin Gordon contributed 12 points. The victory
gave the Indians a two-game winning streak heading into the final two weeks of the season.

Mylan Roebuck came off the bench to lead the Lions with 21 points. Freshman Bentley Huff had 15 points and Rylan Scott had 12 points.

The Indians have raised their record to 11-8 and 4-2 in region play. Franklin County drops to 5-16 and 0-6 in region-8 AAA.

 

Calin Baird and Paris Gaye each scored 14 points as the Franklin County Lady Lions defeated the Stephens County Lady Indians 59-46.

The Lady Indians could never catch Franklin County, falling behind by three points at the end of the first quarter and trailed the rest of the game. A’Niya Mayweather led Stephens County with 14 points while My’Angel Carter chipped in with 11.

Stephens County’s record falls to 3-17 overall and 1-5 in region-8 AAA. Franklin County improves to 7-14 overall and 1-5 in the region.

The Indians are on the road this week, playing Oconee County tonight and Hart County on Friday.

Game time in Watkinsville tonight will be 6 P.M. with broadcast time at 5:45PM.
