Indians Basketball Drop Home Openers

The Stephens County Indians and Lady Indians basketball teams lost their home openers Tuesday night at the Currahee Arena by double digit figures.

Three Lady Indians scored in double figures , but could not contain the two top scorers for Tallulah Falls. The Lady Indians from the Falls defeated the Stephens County Lady Indians 66-50.Mikiya Knox led Stephens County with 14 points . My’Angel Carter added 13 points and Tytiunna Tukes had 12 points.

The Lady Indians of Tallulah Falls were led by Denika Lightbourne with 25 points. Veronaye Charlton added 23.

In the boy’s game Stephens County trailed the entire game but cut the lead down to 6 points in the fourth quarter and dropped a 58-49 decision to the Tallulah Falls boys.

Tyrece Mackie led Stephens County with 18 points .Moochie Morrison had nine points, Aaron Scott and Cornelius Curry each had 7 points. Anfernee Hanna led Tallulah Falls with 20 points and Devonte Allen chipped in with 17 points.

Stephens County will be on the road Thursday night at Jefferson and at home Saturday afternoon against North Oconee. Due to broadcast conflicts. WNEG Radio will not be able to broadcast those games. The next broadcast basketball game for WNEG will be Tuesday, November 30 when the Indians will host the Jefferson Dragons.
