Indians Baseball Win Season Opener

The Stephens County Indians baseball team opened the 2024 campaign with a 7-5 road win over West Hall.

The Indians delivered timely hits and took advantage of six Spartan errors on the way to the victory.

Tyler Zigan led the Indians at the plate reaching base all 4 at bats including three hits and two doubles while scoring two runs. Craig Thurmond added two hits, Ethan Smith had two RBI’s and Findley Ward added a RBI for the Indians now 1-0 on the season.

Konnor Loudermilk scored two runs, and Ward, Smith, and Nate Ivester each scored.

Hayden Scott picked up the win on the mound pitching four innings and allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five. Jack Wilhoit allowed two runs n just two hits in 2 and 1/3 innings and Noah Holbrooks got the final two outs to get the save.

Justin Shaffer had two hits and Brett Sturm had 2 RBI’s for West Hall now 1-1 on the season.

The Indians will have their home opener on Thursday when they host East Hall. Airtime is 5:45 P.M. and the first pitch at 6 P.M. on WNEG.
