Indian Football Defeats Panthers, 29-12

The Stephens County football team will head on the road with a 3-0 record.

Friday night, the Indians scored touchdowns on offense, defense and special teams on the way to a 29-12 win over Jackson County in Toccoa.

The Indians battled hard to pick up the win coming off of last week’s big win over North Hall, said SCHS Head Coach Wesley Tankersley.

Stephens County started the scoring when Vadole Fleming returned an interception for a touchdown.

After Jackson County scored to make it 7-6, Ben Stowe found Cam Lacy for an 83-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-6.

The Panthers cut it to two points at 14-12 with another second-quarter touchdown, but missed the tying two-point conversion. Lacy then returned the ensuing kickoff for a score to make it 21-12 at halftime in favor of the Indians.

Following a scoreless third quarter, Ben Stowe ended the scoring with a 36-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion pass to Kelton Cade.

While the Indians remain unbeaten, Jackson County falls to 1-1.

Next week, Stephens County heads to Danielsville to take on the Madison County Red Raiders in a non-region game. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. with air time on WNEG and wnegradio.com at 6:30 p.m.
