Indian football begins tonight as they host the Franklin County Lions

Football season kicks off tonight for most area high school teams.

The Stephens County High School Indians will begin their season by hosting the Franklin County Lions in a non-region game at The Reservation.

Stephens County has not lost to the Lions since 2009.  The Indians won last year’s game in Carnesville, 13 to 3.

Both Wesley Tankersley for Stephens County and Paul Sutherland for Franklin County will be entering their second seasons with their teams as head coaches.

Indian Assistant Coach and Defensive Coordinator, LaQuentin Taylor was our guest on the “Crunch Time” radio show last night, and he said his expects a physical football game.

Kick-off is set for 7:30 tonight.

Coverage on 93.1 FM and AM 630 WNEG starts at 5:30 p.m. with the Indian Tailgate Show live from The Reservation.  Coach’s Corner starts at 7 p.m. and live pre-game coverage from the stadium starts at 7:15 p.m.

In addition to Stephens County-Franklin County, other games on tonight’s schedule include: Habersham Central at Dawson County, Hart County hosting Elbert County, Commerce at West Hall, and Banks County at Jackson County.

Other Region 8-AAAA teams in action tonight include Madison County at Cedar Shoals, Oconee County at Jefferson, and North Oconee hosting Putnam County.

Saturday, Rabun County travels down to Ga. Southern College to play Bremen.
