Identity of Toccoa shooting victim released

The identity of the victim who was shot last week in Toccoa has been released.

According to Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize, 17-year-old Cassidy Blalock, of Toccoa, remains in stable condition after undergoing a second surgery to repair injuries sustained in the shooting.

As WNEG News previously reported, on May 19, an Eastanollee man was arrested following a shooting that injured a juvenile in Toccoa.

Officers were dispatched to 16 Ruby Street in reference to shots fired with one injury.

Upon arrival, Mize says, officers made contact with the victim and rendered aid until EMS arrived on scene.

The CID Unit and GBI were notified and the scene turned over for further investigation.

Officers were advised a burgundy Crown Victoria or Grand Marquis with a white front bumper had fled the scene following the shots being fired.

Mize says, as officers spread out and searched for the suspect vehicle, 911 Dispatch radioed that the suspect vehicle had been stopped by the Georgia State Patrol in Lavonia.

Investigators arrived on scene and confirmed that this was the vehicle seen leaving the scene of the shooting.

Toccoa Police Department took custody of the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Troy’Onta Ry’Tarious Finley, of Eastanollee.

He was taken to the interview room at the Toccoa Police Department and from there to the Stephens County Jail where he was charged with Aggravated Assault.

Mize says more charges are pending as the Toccoa Police Department continues to investigate.

Blalock was transported from the scene to Stephens County Hospital where she was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
