Ida Cox Summer Music Series kicks-off this Saturday with performance by Abbey Road Live!

Main Street Toccoa is kicking off its Ida Cox Summer Music series this Saturday.

The annual summer music series was delayed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic; however, the series will now run from July until the last Saturday in September.

Main Street Toccoa Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby says this year’s concert series will be a combination of returning and new performers.

Abbey Road Live!, a Beatles Tribute band out of Athens, Georgia,  is the first headlining performance of the 2020 season.

Garret Lott, who was one of the Historic Ritz Theatre’s the Open Mic Monday winners last year, will be the opening act on Saturday.

The series is named for Ida Cox, who was born Ida Prather in Toccoa before going off to make her mark in the music world in the first part of the 20th century.

She started as a vaudeville performer and was one of the pioneers of what we now know as the blues.

The series features different musical genres each week—from country to jazz.

Crosby says Main Street Toccoa has taken steps to ensure everyone feels safe during the Ida Cox Music Series.

Additionally, Crosby says anyone unable to attend the concert on Saturday can live stream the event by going to the Main Street Toccoa Facebook page.

The weekly Saturday concerts are free and feature an opening act and a headline act from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. in downtown Toccoa on Doyle Street between Sage and Pond Streets.
