Ida Cox Summer Music Series Ends Tomorrow

Main Street Toccoa will host the last concert in the Ida Cox Music series tomorrow night.

Milkshake Mayfield, a smooth jazz and gospel group, is the featured entertainment for tomorrow.

Events Coordinator Sharon Crosby says that due to its popularity, the Ida Cox music series was extended into August for the first time this year.

“This year we extended it a full month,” said Crosby. “Typically we’d just been doing it in June and July. This month, several people had asked that we would extend it so we extended it through the month of August. It’s been great, we’ve had a great turn out. We’ve had a couple of weeks where the weather wasn’t very good but all in all, for three  months we’ve had a great turnout every week. We’re really looking forward to this Saturday.”

The series is named after famed 20’s Blues singer and Toccoa native Ida Cox and has featured free music in Downtown Toccoa every Saturday through the summer months.

And, according to Main Street Manager Christian Hamilton, the series will be back next year.

Again, tomorrow’s concert begins at 7 p.m. on Doyle Street downtown and in the event of rain, the concert will move into the Ritz Theatre.

In addition to the live music, the Ida Cox concert also includes food and beverages.
