Hospital Officials Call Recent Growing Our Community Event a Success

Officials, with the Stephens County Hospital, say the Growing Our Community back-to-school/ open house event for the re-branding of the Women’s Wellness Center was a success.

The event took place August 11 at what used to be called the New Impressions Women’s Center.

At their board meeting Monday evening, hospital spokesperson Samantha Rickman said hospital staff bought and contributed free school supplies for children.

“We did a little competition between all of the departments in the hospital and we collected almost 4,000 school supplies from the employees here,” she said. “Environmental Services, Maintenance, and Nutriton Services collected the most with 1,200 supplies. So, we gave them a pizza party this past Friday.”

In addition to school supplies, the event also included games for kids, free food, and tours of the newly remodeled Women’s Wellness Center.

“We did face painting, physicals,” she said. “Ingles donated a lot of donuts and we had drinks and donuts for the kids. We had bouncy houses. Bowen & Watson sponsored those for us. It was a really good morning. So that was an excellent, excellent event.”
Some 30 attendees were also treated to free haircuts by stylists from local hair salons.

Rickman told the Board she has already had requests to make it an annual back-to-school event.
