Homeruns not enough to put SC on top in two softball games last week

Last Thursday, in high school softball action, Riley Walker collected 4 hits in 4 at bats but it wasn’t enough as Stephens County fell to Hebron Christian at home last Thursday, 7 to 5.

Walker’s home run gave the Lady Indians a 5 to 3 advantage in the bottom of the 5th inning, but Hebron Christian tallied 4 runs in the top of the 6th to take control.  The Lady Indians finished with 7 hits in the game.

Last Tuesday, Stephens County lost at home to Oconee County, 9 to 7.  It was a back-and-forth game with several lead changes.

The Lady Indians held the lead at 6 to 5 in the bottom of the 5th inning, but could not hold on as Oconee County tied the game in the 6th and added two more in the 7th inning.  Stephens County closed out the scoring with a solo home run by Nyleigh Hutto in the bottom of the 7th.  The Lady Indians accumulated 11 hits in the game.

Stephens County’s record drops to 7 & 12 over, 3 & 4 in Region 8-AAA, and their next game comes up Tuesday as they travel to Monroe Area.
