High school graduation rates increase

Georgia’s high school graduation rates continue to improve year after year.

For Stephens County High School, they surpassed the state average, with 84.6 percent, 4 percent higher than the state average.

Stephens County High School’s Principal Scott Kersh told WNEG News that the is proud of his students’ achievements; though, he believes they can continue to improve.

The state’s percentage has increased 10.1 percent since 2012.

This is the first time in state history that the graduation rate has exceeded 80 percent.

Stephens County High School continues to make strides as its students excel.

The graduation rate continues to rise as Georgia’s schools and districts increase students’ access to unique, personalized learning opportunities that keep students engaged.

Fifty Georgia school districts recorded 2017 graduation rates at or above 90 percent.

Local districts and schools are utilizing data more effectively to identify students’ individual learning needs; there is increased emphasis on a balanced curriculum that supports the whole child and a positive school climate that allows students to learn in a safe, supportive environment.
