HCHS Teacher placed on leave after arrest

The Hart County Charter System has released a short statement regarding the arrest of high school teacher Corinna Crumpton.

On Wednesday, Grayson Williams, Director of Community Relations for the school system said that since it is an ongoing investigation, the only statement the school system is releasing is that Mrs. Crumpton has been placed on leave.

Crumpton is a Toccoa resident and a German language teacher at Hart County High School.

Agents with the GBI Athens office arrested her last Tuesday and charged her with sexual assault and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, both felony charges, according to GBI Agent in Charge Jesse Maddox.

Maddox said the crimes allegedly took place between August and December of 2021. He said the investigation is active and ongoing.

He said they were called in to investigate at the request of the Hartwell Police Department.
