Hatchett Wins in Recount

Bo Hatchett will represent the Republican Party for the 50th District State Senate seat in the general election in November.

A recount of the votes from the August 11th runoff with Hatchett and opponent Stacy Hall had Hatchett with one more vote on the plus side than those counted on August 11th to win by 41 votes.

Hall had requested the recount after trailing Hatchett by just 40 votes after the runoff on August 11th.

Entering Monday’s recount, Hatchett had received 12,488 votes throughout the entire district, 40 more than Hall at 12,448.

In Stephens County, the recount remained unchanged with Hall receiving 1,447 votes to Hatchett’s 1, 152. There was also no change in the votes counted in Jackson County, Habersham County, Hall County, and Rabun County.

After the recount, Hall lost 1 vote in Banks County, but gained 2 votes in Franklin County. Hatchett also gained 2 votes in Towns County.

This morning, Hall sent the following statement to WNEG News. “Earlier this evening I called to congratulate Bo Hatchett on his victory as the Republican Candidate
for State Senate District 50. With nearly 25,000 votes cast and only 38 votes separating us, today’s recount confirmed it
was a very competitive race but it’s time to put the campaign to rest. I’m incredibly grateful for the dozens of committed
volunteers who worked so hard throughout my campaign and for the thousands of voters who put their trust and
confidence in me. A special thank you to my wife, Ivy Copeland Hall and my family who stood beside me through it all. I am proud to have run a campaign of integrity anchored by issues and facts. Again, my deepest thanks to the residents of Senate District 50. No doubt, we live in the greatest place on earth. May God bless you.”

Hatchett will face Democrat Dee Daley in November.
