Hart County Takes Softball Title

Hart County used stellar defense and banged out 15 hits to roll to a 14-3 victory over Toccoa in the Little League Softball District 7 Championship Thursday night in Hartwell.

Toccoa scored two runs in the top of the first inning when Hallie Shirley walked and scored after back to back hits by Aurora Elrod and Rayven Payne. Elrod scored later in the inning on a Hart County error to make it 2-0 after the top of the first.

It was all Hart County that followed. Hart County scored three in the bottom of the first, and 10 more in the second inning to take a commanding 13-2 lead after 2 innings. Hart County added one more run in the bottom of the third inning. A Shirley hit plated the third Toccoa run, but another runner trying to score was thrown out at the plate to end the game on the 10 run rule.

Toccoa finishes as the tournament runner-up. Hart County advances to the State Tournament hosted by Bartow County in Cartersville.
