A Hart County doctor is facing multiple charges of child molestation and more charges could be forthcoming.

GBI Special Agent in Charge Mike Ayers tells WNEG News that on March 29th, his office was contacted by the Hart County Sheriff’s Office and asked to investigate the allegations against 71-year old Dr. Tommy Beeson.

As a result of their investigation, Dr. Beeson was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual battery, seven counts of child molestation, and two counts of sexual battery.

Beeson surrendered to authorities in Flagstaff, Arizona on Saturday, March 31 according to Ayers.

The GBI has not indicated when the alleged incidents took place nor who reported them to the Hart County Sheriff’s office.

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland tells WNEG News once the allegations were made to his office, the case was immediately turned over to the GBI.

Cleveland said his office expects to extradite Beeson back to Georgia next week.

The Georgia Composite State Board of Medical Examiners lists Beeson as a currently licensed family medicine specialist.

He had offices in Hartwell from 1990 to 2001, according to their Web site.

In addition to his office in Hartwell, Dr. Beeson also had offices in both Greenville and Anderson, South Carolina from 2001 to 2002.

Ayers said the GBI investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s office at 706-376-3114 or the GBI at 706-552-2309.
