Harold Harbin named Volunteer of the Year

Lavonia resident Harold Harbin was recently honored by the League of Southeastern Credit Unions & Affiliates as the 2022 “Volunteer of the Year” for the state of Georgia.

The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes credit union volunteers who have selflessly contributed time, effort and talent to the development of the credit union movement in their state.

“I was surprised and honored to receive the Volunteer of the Year award for 2022,” said Harbin. “I have been blessed to serve North Georgia Credit Union and appreciate the nomination; it means a lot to me to be recognized in this manner. I look forward to continuing to serve NGCU and its members.”

Harbin retired from Lakeshore Truss Company where he served as the CFO/General Manager. He also served as a Lavonia City Councilman, Post 4, for 12 years. Harold has been a valued member of the NGCU Board of Directors and Audit/Supervisory Committee since 2012, currently serving as the committee chairman.

Previously, Mr. Harbin was also recognized as the 2018 Moses C. Davis Volunteer of the Year award recipient for his dedication. Harold and his wife, Susan are also actively involved in the community.
