Jaziya Harbin was recently recognized as the Work-Based Learning Student of the Month for February.

On March 12, the Stephens County Development Authority and the Stephens County High School WBL program visited Harbin at her workplace, The Learning Tree Academy, to congratulate her on the achievement.

Logan Harris, the Director of The Learning Tree Academy said he values Harbin’s contributions to the team, describing her as dependable, responsible, and a hard worker and saying, “Her kind nature allows her to provide the nurture and care needed to support the development of the little ones. It has been a pleasure to see her grow in her skills and knowledge as an early childhood teacher.”

Heidi Fowler, Harbin’s supervisor, adds that she is continuing to grow and develop, and is “absolutely amazing” at what she does.

Ladonna Bartmas, another one of Harbin’s teachers, expressed nothing but praise for her, saying that she is an outstanding student who has completed the Early Childhood Care and Education pathway through dual enrollment with North Georgia Technical College. Harbin puts that knowledge into practice every day on her job, and her supervisors at Learning Tree Academy continue to give her exemplary reviews.

Along with her work at The Learning Tree Academy, Harbin manages a very full schedule. She is a member of HOSA, was a SCHS basketball player for three years, is part of the National Society of High School Scholars, National Honor Society, and the National Technical Honor Society.

After graduation, Harbin plans to attend Kennesaw State University.

The student of the month for February was sponsored by Bulldogs Car Wash & Express Lube, SouthState Bank, and the Stephens County Development Authority.
