Habersham Sheriff’s Office and ARDEO Arrests Man for Manufacturing Marijuana

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office arrests an individual involved in the manufacturing of marijuana on July 4.

Mitchell Posey with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office tells WNEG News that Habersham deputies responded to 2721 Alec Mountain Road because of a 911 hang up by 35-year-old Nicholas Green.

“The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office responded to Nicholas’ house because of a 911 hang up, which was really just bad luck on Mr. Green,” said Posey. “He was doing some type of maintenance work on his phone line and for some reason, that caused an inadvertent call and hang up to 911, which based on Habersham County’s protocol, they have to respond. When they got there, Nicholas saw them and they saw Nicholas slam the door. They couldn’t get him to come to the door but they could smell the marijuana in the house.”

The Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office then executed a search warrant and Habersham authorities found 25 marijuana plants just inside the back door among other things.

“They found 25 marijuana plants along with other supplies that are typically used in a marijuana grow operation,” said Posey. “They were in a box that had not been set up, Nicholas had only recently moved to this house. Nicholas also had about 23 half gallon mason jars of marijuana, along with another mason jar full of mushrooms. A number of rifles, a shotgun, a firearm and about $660 in cash.”

The street value of the illegal narcotics is $408,600.

Green was charged with manufacturing marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a scheduled I narcotic. He was transported to the Habersham County Detention Center.
