Habersham County selling downtown Clarkesville building

The Habersham County government is accepting bids for the sale of its building located at 1387 Washington Street in Clarkesville. The building formerly housed the Elections Office and most recently the Soque River Watershed Association office.

According to Habersham County Public Information Officer Rob Moore, the building is no longer needed by the county government and is being sold in order to place the property back on the tax digest.

Bids will be accepted until 3 p.m. Wednesday, October 25, with the award being made to the “highest responsive and responsible bidder.”

Bid documents can be downloaded from the county’s website at habershamga.com and is listed under Bid Opportunities. 

According to the county’s bid notification, the county reserves the right to reject any or all bids if a fair market price is not received.

County staff will be conducting a walk-through of the building for interested bidders will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

According to tax records, the property includes 0.03 acres, and contains a 1,288 square-foot office building originally built in 1937, and significantly renovated in 1985. Tax records show a 2023 fair market value of $78,980.
