Habersham County Crash Saturday halted traffic on GA 365 and Rock Road

STORY UPDATED Monday morning with facts from the GSP Incident report:

A two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Rock Road and GA 365 near the Stephens County/Habersham border shut down traffic for several hours on Saturday.

According to the Georgia State Patrol incident report released this morning, on July 15 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Eastanollee resident Gary Owens, 42, was driving a 2004 Saturn Vue west on Rock Road and turned northbound onto GA 365, failing to yield at the intersection and pulling out in front of a 2006 Ford Escape, driven by Donald Jarrad, 32, of Alto, that was traveling northbound on GA365.

The Vue struck the Escape. Both drivers, the single passenger in the Vue, and all five passengers in the Escape reported injuries, according to Troopers.

LifeFlight responded to transport two passengers, including a 7-year-old passenger in the Escape, who was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

The remaining passengers in the Escort, Kevin Goss, 22, of Monroe, Macayla Jarrad, 23, of Cornelia, Nicholas Ussery, 29, of Gainesville, and Nicole Ussery, 50, of Buford, were all transported by emergency personnel to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with serious injuries.

The name of the passenger in the Vue has not been released, but was reported as suffering “possible minor injury.”

The GSP incident report states that charges are pending against Owen, and the incident remains under investigation.
