Habersham Authorities Search for Vehicle Arsonist

Authorities in Habersham County are asking for the public’s help to find the person responsible for setting a vehicle on fire.

Late Monday, investigators with the office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens ruled the car, a 2007 Gray Dodge Nitro, had been intentionally set on fire.

The car had been stolen on Feb. 14.

It was found burning the next day on Wilson Road near Mt. Airy.

Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens tells WNEG News said the loss was estimated to be $8,000.

Anyone with information about this fire is asked to call the Georgia Arson Hotline at 1-800-282-5804.

Rewards of up to $10,000 are given for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist, and callers do not have to give their name.

Calls are answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
