GSP Releases report on Skyline motorcycle crash

On Thursday, WNEG News reported on a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Skyline Drive, advising that the Toccoa Police and Fire departments had responded to the scene, but that the driver had been Lifeflighted for medical care, and the incident had been handed over the the Georgia State Patrol.

Last night, Georgia State Patrol issued the incident report, identifying Austin Outz, 27, of Athens as the driver of the motorcycle involved in the wreck.

According to the report, at approximately 11:30 a.m., Outz was traveling west on Skyline Drive, operating a 2006 Honda CBR motorcycle at a “very high rate of speed” while negotiating a curve. Outz lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the north shoulder of the road and became airborne for 96 feet before landing in the yard of a home in the 800 block of Skyline Drive.

Outz was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the driveway, and after impact, the motorcycle traveled another 78 feet before coming to rest on its side.

Outz was airlifted to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment; no information about his condition has been released

Charges are pending against Outz, according to the GSP report.
