GSP releases information on Sunday’s fatal accident on GA 365

Sunday’s accident on GA-365 in Habersham County kills five.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of GA 365 southbound and Mt. Zion Road.

The Georgia State Patrol says, Mitchell Boggs, 58, of Marietta, was driving a Corvette southbound on GA 365 in the right lane; as he was approaching Mt. Zion Road, a Ford Explorer driven by Avonlea Holtzclaw, 29, of Dahlonega, attempted to cross the southbound side of GA 365 onto Mt. Zion Road.

Both vehicles caught on fire when the Corvette hit the Explorer on the right front side.

The crash killed Boggs and Holtzclaw and an unidentified passenger traveling in Boggs’ vehicle.

Two children in Holtzclaw’s vehicle were also killed in the crash.

The highway was reopened at 8:10 p.m. Sunday evening.
