Gov. Deal issues State of Emergency for all of Georgia

Governor Nathan Deal has issued a state of emergency for all 159 counties in Georgia.

The decision was based on yesterday’s forecast of Hurricane Florence and the recommendations from Georgia Emergency Management Agency and Homeland Security officials.

Deal announced last night that the state is mobilizing all available resources to ensure public safety ahead of Hurricane Florence.

He continued by saying quote “in light of the storm’s forecasted southward track after making landfall, I encourage Georgians to be prepared for the inland effects of the storm as well as the ensuing storm surge in coastal areas.”

According to Deal, GEMA/HS continue to lead the state’s preparedness efforts as officials coordinate with federal, state and local officials to provide public shelter and accommodate those evacuating from other states.
