Gordon Runs Wild-Indians Tame Lions

Javin Gordon scored six touchdowns, five coming in the first half, and the undefeated Stephens County Indians rolled to a 52-7 win over Franklin County Friday night at The Reservation.

Gordon scored on runs of 61, 23, 10, 5, and 1 in the first half and added a 54-yard touchdown run on the first play of the 2nd half. Gordon rushed for 218 yards on only 13 carries and after seven games moved past the 1100-yard mark for the season.

The Indians got off to a great start when Marvin Teasley recovered a Lion fumble on the opening kickoff that led to Gordon’s first touchdown.

The Indians Jasec Smith returned an interception 35 yards for a TD. Da’Von Swinton had two interceptions with one coming in each half.

Luke Waters kicked a 40-yard field goal for the final score of the game.

The two teams played with a running clock in the 2nd half.

The Indians improve to 7-0 and 2-0 in region-8 AAA play. Franklin County falls to 1-6 and 0-2 in the region.

Stephens County will have another open date next week and will travel to Hart County for a battle for first place in the region on October 20th.
