Gober resigns as Stephens County Registrar

Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober has resigned.

Friday, January 15, was Gober’s last day with Stephens County’s Registrar’s Office.

She tells WNEG News her decision to resign was due to health reasons.

Gober was the first black woman to be Registrar in Stephens County.

She says she has recommended her Deputy Registrar April Roberts to fill her seat in the role as Stephens County’s Registrar.

Gober started working as the Deputy Registrar under then Registrar Bill Cochran in 2016.

The Stephens County Board of Commissioners will meet this morning in executive session to decide on appointing Roberts as Interim Registrar.
