‘Give Burns the Boot’ drive raises over $1,500 locally

Recently, the generous citizens in and around Stephens County helped raise over $1,500 for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

During the three day “Give Burns the Boot” drive, the Toccoa Fire Department received a total of $1,632 in donations collected outside of Quality Foods, Wal-Mart and Tractor Supply.

Assistant Fire Chief Frankie Deitz told announced last week that his department is grateful for the generosity and support citizens showed during the drive.

Deitz added that without the community’s involvement, the Toccoa Fire Department would not have realized its goal.

All of the Toccoa Fire Department’s various shifts were able to participate and assist in collecting donations.

Funds collected through the boot drive will be used to help support the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation’s mission of partnering with the fire service and burn care community to provide fire safety and prevention education, support medical facilities and assist burn survivors in their recovery.
