GHSA Announces Proposed Region Alignment for 2024-2026

The Georgia High School Association met earlier today and the minutes from the meeting reflect the proposed region alignment for 2024-2026.

The proposal has Stephens County moving to the AA classification as part of a seven-team region 8-AA. Other schools proposed to be in the region include Franklin County, Hart County, East Jackson, Hebron Christian Academy, Prince Avenue Christian, and Union County.

Habersham Central will also make the move to 5-A and will be joined by seven other schools in region 8-AAAAA.

Rabun and Elbert County would stay in region 8-A Division one but would be joined by nine other schools for an eleven-team region.

Schools can still appeal the proposal.

According to the posted minutes of the meeting, the next meeting will be at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 16 in the GHSA office when schools will be allowed to appeal for
lateral transfers within their classification.

The deadline to get on the agenda for the lateral appeal meeting is noon on Wednesday, November 15.
