Georgia Power Customers to Receive Third Credit on Their Bills
Another credit coming for Georgia Power customers.
This month, Georgia Power customers will receive the third $25 credit for the Vogtle nuclear expansion.
A total of $75 in 2018 bill credits, or $188 million overall, were approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission as part of its 2017 order to continue construction of Vogtle 3 & 4.
Customers also received separate $25 credits in April and July.
The 2018 bill credits are a direct result of parent guarantee payments for the Vogtle project from Toshiba.
Plant Vogtle 3 & 4 units are the nation’s only new nuclear units under construction and the first to be built in a generation.
The units are being build near Waynesboro, Georgia, and according to Georgia Power, will generate enough emission-free electricity to power approximately 500,000 homes and businesses.
Unit three is expected to go online in November 2021. Unit Four is expected to be completed in 2022.
