Georgia falls to South Carolina at FCA All-Star Baseball Classic

Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina played host to the second annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes All-Star Baseball Classic Thursday night at Connor Field.

The game featured all-stars from Northeast Georgia and Upstate South Carolina.

And for the second year in a row, the South Carolina All-Stars came away with a win, 10-9.

The South Carolina team scored six runs in the bottom of the first inning and by the end of the third inning had stretched the lead to 10-1.

But the Georgia team started their comeback, scoring two runs in the fifth and trailed by just three runs in the top of the seventh inning.

However, the comeback fell a run short when Dawson Dye of Elbert County lined out hard to shortstop with the potential tying run at second base.

Braden Patterson of Belton Honea Path High School led the South Carolina All-stars with three hits and four RBIs.

Joe Lukas of Madison County was tops for the Georgia All-Stars with two RBIs.

Daniel Lavender of Elbert County, Paris Umble of Elbert County, and Devyn Munroe of Rabun Gap each drove in runs for the Georgia All-Stars.

In a pre-game Home Run Derby, Devyn Munroe of Rabun Gap shared the honors with Braden Patterson of Belton Honea Path.

Each hit two home runs during the contest.
