Georgia College & Universtity Application Fees Waived This Month

Continuing state efforts to encourage Georgia students to continue their education past high school, The Georgia Student Finance Commission has partnered with the University System of Georgia, the Technical College System of Georgia and private institutions to provide application fee waivers to Georgia high school seniors through the Find Your MATCH in March initiative.

Forty-nine Georgia colleges and universities have agreed to waive their application fees for high school seniors between March 1-31.

This is the third year that GSFC has promoted application fee waivers for the month of March and the first year to incorporate the new GEORGIA MATCH direct admissions initiative.

As reported by WNEG News in October of last year, through the Georgia Match Initiative, all Georgia high school students were slated to receive a letter of academic eligibility for admission to the 22 Technical College System of Georgia institutions. Students with higher GPAs also were provided a list of up to 23 University System of Georgia institutions for which they were academically eligible for acceptance. Georgia Match program information noted that three schools, The University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Georgia College and State University, did not appear on any of the letters. Those schools use an application process that considers multiple different factors, not just GPA, and thus were not included in the Georgia Match program.

Regarding the Find Your Match in March initiative, there is no limit on the number of schools a student may apply to using the application fee waivers. While application fees may vary by institution, the cost savings to high school seniors applying to multiple colleges can be significant, according to initiative administrators.
