Gentry resigns as Indian’s Head Softball Coach

After serving 2 years as an assistant coach and this past season as head coach, Katie-Jo Gentry has resigned as Stephens County Lady Indians Softball Coach.

She has accepted the position of head softball coach at Gainesville High School.

Gentry was recently honored by the Georgia Dugout Club as the Class AAAA Coach of the Year after leading the Lady Indians to the State Runner-Up and an overall record of 24 & 10.

She says it is hard to leave Stephens County, her first head coaching position.

Gainesville had a record of 8 & 19 overall last season and finished last in Region 8-AAAAAA.

But Gentry says she has the task of turning that program around:

“I’ll essentially be starting over with the program at Gainesville, I’ll have to build it back up,” she said.

Gentry says she will take what she learned here at Stephens County as she goes on to Gainesville.

Gainesville High School is planning to build new softball facilities for the upcoming season this Fall.
